The addictiveness of K dramas

Korean dramas and films are taking over streaming sites such as Netflix. According, to the Hollywood reporter Netflix has spent $700 million on creating Korean content including over 80 shows. With Korean hit series such as Squid Game and All of Us are Dead the streaming service saw a pay off in investments.


Dr Jeongmee Kim, is a film lecturer at the University of Lincoln and explained that "Korean culture is a product that has been established as a very strong market force in Asia and beyond. Hence, the interest from global streaming giants." But just what makes K dramas so addictive and why have people all around the world suddenly become obsessed with Squid Game?
